Leadership Focus

David, our oldest son was a wonderful hockey player who landed on the scouting roster of a professional hockey team and was later offered a contract with an International Hockey League (IHL) team after he had started a family.  Instead of taking the job, he continued to pursue his work as a social worker, husband, father and coach for his oldest son’s hockey team.

David is a skilled coach emphasizing player and team development through hard work focused on fundamental hockey skills of skating, stick handling, passing, position play, and teamwork.  He focuses on the development of his young players’ skills, persistence, and teamwork – emphasizing winning as an outcome of fundamentals and teamwork. As a result, his current team with a wide range of talent and experience are stepping up to a new level of play. They happen to be winning games against bigger and more experienced teams.

Similarly, great leaders focus on strategy, values, mission and the long term vision of their organization.  They develop their greatest asset – their people.  They know that the return on investment will follow if they focus on the basics.
